HELP OUR TROOPS

THE MUSTANG WAY

We recently received an interesting story from a reader in Oregon that really touched us. The letter was from Shannon Schmid, a real Ford person with a sharp '67 Mustang, as well as a Bronco. Shortly after the events of Sept. 11, Shannon started sending care packages And writing letters to our troops. After joining AdoptaPlatoon (adoptaplatoon.org), she was able to help even more but still felt it wasn't enough. Shannon went so far as to exhaust her life savings purchasing body armor for our troops.

She spends 10-12 hours a day creating care packages, writing platoons, and more. She has often spoken at schools, and while she's been interviewed on the local TV news and some newspapers, she says she does it only to support our soldiers. Shannon purchased a '66 Mustang and plans to restore it with a patriotic theme, a thank you to our vets and active military. In the idea of paying it forward, she feels the classic Mustang would be a great way to educate the public about our troops and their needs by displaying it at events, schools, and other functions. Due to her current financial status and a recent back injury, she wrote us hoping for further exposure of her dream. If you would like to help Shannon with her project, whether with parts, labor, or even a donation, contact her at: Shannon Schmid, 2370 SW Dilley Rd., Forest Grove, OR 97161; (503) 357-9682; or somethingfancy@aol.com
